Magnetic Flowmeter is a type of flow
measuring instrument that developed rapidly with the development of electronic
technology in the 1950s and 1960s. Electromagnetic flowmeter is an instrument
that applies the principle of electromagnetic induction to measure the flow of
a conductive fluid based on the electromotive force induced by the conductive
fluid through an applied magnetic field. We use a lot mag meter to measure
chemical, milk, slurry, acid and so on.
The advantages of electromagnetic
flowmeters
1. The sensor structure of the
electromagnetic flowmeter is relatively simple, and it is a kind of flowmeters
with the low power consumption.There are no moving parts in the flow sensor
measuring tube and no additional pressure loss is caused when the medium passes
through the flow meter sensor tube.
2. It can measure the flow rate of
corrosive medium, sloping medium and suspended liquid-solid two-phase flow.
This is due to the fact that there is no obstructive flow component inside the
metering tube. Only the measuring tube lining and the electrode are in contact
with the fluid to be measured, and the liner and electrodes material can be
selected according to the nature of the fluid to be tested;
3. Electromagnetic flowmeter is a volume
flow measuring instrument. During the measurement process, it is not affected
by the temperature, viscosity and density of the measured medium with a certain
range of conductivity. The electromagnetic flowmeter can be used to measure the
flow rate of other conductive liquids only after being calibrated by water;
4. The output of the electromagnetic
flowmeter is only proportional to the average flow velocity of the measured
medium, independent of the laminar or turbulent state under symmetric
distribution. The range of the electromagnetic flowmeter can be as wide as
100:1.
5. It can measure flow in both forward and
reverse directions.
Disadvantages of electromagnetic flowmeter
1. Cannot be used to measure gases, vapors,
and liquids containing large amounts of gas;
2. Cannot be used to measure liquid media
with low conductivity, electromagnetic flowmeter can not measure media such as
petroleum products or organic solvents;
3. Cannot be used to measure high
temperature media.The max high temperature we can measure is 200 ℃

Electromagnetic flowmeters are sensitive
to external electromagnetic interference.
