V-Cone Flow Meter OverviewThe V- Cone flow meter is an advanced technology that takes differential pressure flow measure...
Annubar flowmeters are often called averaging pitots. They are used to measure the flow of gas, steam, or liquid fluid. An annubar flow meter has many pressure tapings to find the average of the flow. The pressure taping also compensates when the fluid being measured has a non-ideal flow.
An annubar flowmeter measures the flow of the fluid through the creation of differential pressure. It’s first inserted into the fluid and then the side with the pressure tapings is faced towards the flowing fluid.
The pressure tapings measure the total pressure of the flowing fluid which includes both the static and dynamic pressure. The annubar flowmeter has single or multiple taps on the other side of the fluid to measure the pressure as it flows through the flowmeter.
The difference in pressure between the flowing fluid and the downward stream determines the velocity. This together with the cross-sectional area of the pipe, makes it possible to determine the flow of the fluid.
The difference in pressure is determined and converted into a flow rate using another device which is a differential pressure transmitter. The main principle guiding the working of the annubar flowmeter is Bernoulli’s equation.

The annubar flowmeter can be used in various applications such as measuring the flow rate of oil flowing in a pipeline, in airplanes, and industrial applications.
An annubar flowmeter is also used in scientific research where the flow rate of the fluids needs to be measured. The flowmeter can also be used in determining the flow rate of fluids being emitted into the environment. For instance, an annubar flow element can be used to monitor the emission of gases from chimneys.
Annubar flowmeters are also important in agricultural and industrial production. They are used to determine the quantity of the inputs being used or as a control system to automate the process.
The annubar flow meter can also be used in the mining industry to determine the flow of compressed air, blast furnace gas, and other liquids.
It is widely used in electronic power, petroleum,
water treatment, chemical industry, environment protection and so on.
The annubar flowmeter has various advantages which include:
An annubar flow meter should also be used in places where there is no ice or any materials that might clog the multiple ports such as dust. However, there are manual and automatic purging systems that can help avoid clogging the flowmeter.
