Some Technical specifications of SHD series electromagnetic flow meter

SHD series electromagnetic flow meter from silverrinstruments.com operates based on Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. It measures the flow of conductive liquids by detecting the voltage generated as the fluid passes through a magnetic field. This principle ensures high accuracy and reliability.

Applications of SHD series magnetic flow meter

The electromagnetic flow meter is widely used to measure the flow of conductive liquids, making it a versatile tool across various industries .It is widely used to measure the flow of conductive liquids, including water, acids flow meter, alkalis, juice, milk flow meter , slurries, and other corrosive or abrasive media. It is ideal for industries like water treatment, chemical processing, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals.

Here We have some professional questions regarding electromagnetic flow meters that require your company's expertise to address.

Question 1 - First off all, do you have a complete manual where all parameters in the electronic board are explained?
have some doubts on the setup and how the options affect the measure:

Thank you for trusting Silver Instruments!
PARAMETER  \ EXT CURRENT
\ EXT FREQ
\ THREE LEVEL EXT
\ METER COEF

FUNCTION    \ DELTA Q ENABLE
\ EPD MODE

Answer 1:
This device is pre-configured at the factory and is ready for immediate use upon installation. No additional settings are required on-site, and we do not recommend customers to modify any internal configurations unless absolutely necessary. Normally only set 4-20mA Output

Question 2 - what should I see at the excitation output with an oscilloscope?
magnetic flowmeters are DC o AC excitation?  (just to be able to diagnose if the electronic board is ok or I should replace it

Answer 2:
SHD series magnetic flowmeter  is AC excitation.
Short-circuit the EXT+ and EXT- terminals by connecting them together.
Observe the meter's response:
If there is no alarm triggered, the excitation circuit of mag flow transmitter is operating normally.

Question 3 - How to test if the excitation coils are ok?
Answer 3:
To check the resistance of the excitation circuit of mag flow transmitter , follow these steps:
Disconnect the cables between the flow meter sensor and the flow meter transmitter head.
Set your multimeter to the resistance (Ω) measurement mode.
Measure the resistance between the EXT+ and EXT- terminals on the circuit board.
Normal Range: The resistance should be between 40-120Ω.
If the reading falls within this range, the excitation circuit  of mag meter is functioning normally.

Question 4 - How to test if electrodes should be cleaned o replaced?
(can this be done on the field or it is better to replace the flowmeter tube?
Answer 4:
Maintenance Instructions for Electromagnetic Flow Meter Electrodes:
Electrode Replacement:
The electrodes of the electromagnetic flow meter cannot be replaced on-site. If replacement is required, the meter must be returned to the factory for professional servicing.
Flow Rate Attenuation:
If you notice a significant decrease in flow measurement accuracy, you may disassemble the meter and clean the electrodes as follows:
Use a soft cotton cloth to gently wipe the electrodes.
Avoid scratching or damaging the electrode surface. The electrodes are manufactured with a mirror-finish process, and any scratches can disrupt signal extraction, leading to measurement failure.
Important Note:
Handle the electrodes with care during cleaning. If the issue persists after cleaning, please contact our technical support team or arrange for the meter to be returned to the factory for further inspection and maintenance.

Question 5 - how to read the information in /
DIAGNOSTIC \ SIG DIAG
Answer 5:
Flow Meter Alarm Indicators:
Empty Pipe Alarm (MGP or FGP):
When there is no medium flowing through the pipeline, the digital display of magnetic flow transmitter will display an MGP or FGP alarm, indicating an empty pipe condition.
Excitation Alarm (SYS):
If the coil in the mag flow meter body is damaged, the meter head will display an SYS alarm, indicating an excitation circuit fault. In this case, the meter must be returned to the factory for repair, as the excitation system cannot be fixed on-site.
Note:
For empty pipe alarms, ensure the pipeline is properly filled with the medium.
For excitation alarms, do not attempt to repair the mag meter yourself. Contact our technical support team or arrange for magnetic flow meter factory servicing .
Question 6 - what is the difference between
CALIBRATION \ SENSOR COEF
CALIBRATION \ NORMALIZED COEF

Answer 6:
Sensor and Converter Coefficient Guidelines:
Sensor Coefficient /SENSOR COEF:
It is recommended to calibrate the sensor coefficient using a professional calibration device.
The relationship between flow rate and the sensor coefficient is inversely proportional. Any changes in the coefficient will directly affect the accuracy of flow measurement.
NORMALIZED COEF:
The converter coefficient is fixed and cannot be modified. Altering this coefficient will cause the program to malfunction, rendering the meter unusable.
.
Question7 - is it possible to update firmware version of boards?
I have some old electronics with 6P.IA.11.84 (cannot change dates with 88888 password) and 6P.IA.11.86 firmware version
Answer 7:
The circuit board version of the eletromagnetic flow meter cannot be updated by customers, and we do not recommend attempting to download or install software updates on your own. Unauthorized updates may lead to system malfunctions or operational issues.

Question 8 - Can you help me to recover factory parameters to this flowmeters?
Answer 8:
Magnetic water flow meter Factory Reset Warning:
Do not perform a factory reset directly, as this will cause the meter head parameters and functions to become unusable.
Parameter Verification:
It is recommended to confirm with the customer which parameters have been modified. There are nearly 40 settings in total, and improper changes may affect the meter's performance.
Alternatively, we can provide a list of key parameter settings (those that have a direct impact on measurement accuracy). Would this be acceptable for your needs?
